*Common Q & A: |
|
|
|
What type of Guarantee do you offer? |
| There is a lemon law in FL that protects your puppy purchase for a year |
(make sure you are not waiving that right when you get a contract from another breeder!)
We offer a Lifetime Guarantee to ALWAYS take our puppies back no matter what!!!
|
How much are your puppies? |
Prices range between $1200-$2500 based on age, color & gender.
|
What is a Limited Registration?
Although the dam & sire are AKC Registered and your puppy is a purebred no offspring could registered with AKC. Our puppies are sold as pets (altered or on a spay/neuter agreement)
What if I want a show prospect but have no interest in showing or breeding?
Lots of our show prospects end up in pet homes! That is what we are striving for with every breeding and why we've shown, evaluated and study our dogs, their progeny and their pedigrees!
How do wet get a puppy?
1. Complete application
2. Ask to get on waiting list and check status on your application. I may have some additional questions.
3. Once approved a $500 partial payment will hold your puppy.
Once you select your puppy your deposit is non-refundable, but maybe transfered to a future litter.
What should I read?
Civilizing Your Puppy, 2nd Edition
The Havanese by Diane Klumb
Joyous Havanese by K. Braund
What should we feed?
Our puppies are weaned on Royal Canin Starter, Fresh Goat Milk (with baby cereal) & Wellness Canned Food. By about 8 weeks they are on Wellness Dog Food which is Made in the USA from Human Grade ingredients. Their puppy formula uses dietary DHA -AVMA research shows "that puppies nourished with enhanced levels were smarter, more trainable than typical -DHA (low DHA) nourished puppies.
After your puppy is spayed/neutered (between month 5-6) We'd switch to Natural Balance Small Bites Kibbles (that's what we feed our adults)
We send home samples of all these with you!
ALWAYS HAVE PLENTY OF FRESH WATER AVAILABLE What about treats?
A toy breed does not need many treats (2 a day) is a good rule of thumb.
With all the reports/ recalls, We've decided to ban anything made in China. I think it's time we went back to making our own treats of liver, peanut butter, and beef, chicken, and turkey jerky at home. Always a good rule of thumb is NOT to feed anything to your dog that you would not eat YOURSELF! Yes, that means they get NO BONES, either! (cooked or raw it's not worth the risk) or anything fatty.
For training I like Bil-Jac liver treats (small bites) or Natural Balance Food rolls cut up (also great for hiding pills).
A hard biscuit at bedtime is essential it's like getting their teeth brushed and it gives them a little something in their tummy for "overnight"
I give mine IAMS (yellow box), Old Mother Hubbard or Natural Balance Biscuits at bedtime. We also offer Hooves & Bully Sticks for chewing satisfaction.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our web site. With the breeds popularity be sure you visit your breeder, that parents have had all breed recommended health testing and be sure to meet your puppies parents and extended family when possible. Having a good relationship with your breeder for the life of the dog is a very valuable asset. I am only an e-mail away and if I don't have the answer I will definitely try to find it for you!!

Zoe-Roxy (Red Sable) San Francisco, CA
Our puppies are raised in our home with love and attention.
If you get a puppy from us you can be certain it has been loved and cared for EVERY step of the way.
We still learn from each litter and each puppy that we are privileged to love. We are there with our dams as each puppy is born to assist in its welcoming into the world. We ensure the sacs come off and fluids drained to ensure oxygen instantly reaches their brain. When possible we keep the placentas attached until they are breathing on their own and squeeze the cord so that every last drop of nourishment reaches their body; our puppies are stimulated, cleaned and put on a nipple so that they can get colostrum (immunity) within minutes of their birth. We track their progress and ensure that everyone is gaining daily.
At 3 days old we start the "Super Dog" program to stimulate their neurological system. Every puppy is handled daily, we breathe onto their faces before their eyes and ears open so they learn to trust the human breath, when their eyes open we ensure the lights are always dimmed so they can slowly acclimate to light, once they can hear we play the radio so they become accustomed to the new sounds, we offer fresh goats milk, rice cereal with iron and smashed pumpkin to mom from the moment the puppies are born and to the puppies when they reach 3 weeks. Puppy food with goat milk is introduced at week 3-4 weeks to ensure adequate nutrition in addition to moms milk. By week 8 the puppies are completely weaned and thriving on high quality kibble.
We worm them regularly to ensure health, all the while mom is making sure she feeds and keeps them clean and stays with them round the clock. As they mature we touch our puppies feet, mouth and ears so they are accustomed to being handled and groomed. We make intentional noises while they are safe with mom so they don't fear things like a pot falling or the sound of a vacuum.
Their area is set up with a pee pad away from their bed so they are able to follow their natural instinct of not soiling their den, thus helping them housebreak easier. We take them out on wet grass in attempts of them going out to "potty" in the rain later when they are in their forever home. We go for rides to nowhere at 4 weeks (we drive a few miles so they get used to road travel)....and this is all before 8 weeks when we go to the vets for our first complete check up and have our ears, eyes, heart, lungs and patella's checked and a fecal worm test done by our vet, as well as first vaccine & additional worming.
Putting this all down in writing (and I have left out lots of stuff we do! lol) it seems like a lot of work but it doesn't feel that way when we are doing it.. I guess this is one of those things that some would refer to as a "labor of love."
If you are seriously committed to bringing the joy and responsibility of a puppy home. If everyone in your household agrees with this decision, if you are willing to read, learn and apply how to properly care and raise a puppy with regular grooming and veterinary care then contact me to get on my waiting list, or even if you just have a question about the breed in general. Remember, the job of raising a puppy into a wonderful dog will be work, albeit I promise you, richly rewarding. I know I've mentally thought of and thanked my breeders many a nights when I've had one (or all) of my babies right beside (or on top of) me - there is no greater feeling in the world than the love of your dog, and no happier sight then their wagging tail when you enter the room..

Before bringing home your puppy: |
Baby/puppy proof your home - get down on the ground to be sure you see what they will see. Pick out a spot for your crate - I recommend one on your night table for sleeping and one in an x-pen in your living area while you can't actively supervise.
What You'll Need:
I send home a good quality pin brush. You'll still need a greyhound style or Teflon comb, food bowl, water pail (helps keep face dryer) & prefer these in Stainless Steel. Newspapers or pee pads. paper towels & white vinegar or an enzyme cleaner for wiping up any accidents. You'll need nail clippers, styptic powder (never clip without it!!). Ear powder to remove the hair, Ear flush cleaner for after the bath to remove the moisture and clean the ear. A good collection of hard chew toys and SMALL soft squeaky ones. Store their toys in your dirty socks (yes, you read that right - if they smell like you they will love them more!) and rotate them regularly to avoid boredom. A good fitting collar (I prefer rolled leather to avoid matting) and lead (either 6'' or flexi or both!). Of course a crate (I prefer 24x18 wire) for the ride home, and overnight. An exercise pen if you will leave your puppy for more than two hours at a time or if you don't have a small area to contain during training. Plus you'll need time and patience to make sure your puppy continues on his good start in life. Be ready, be consistent and you will be in love, this is one time investment that will give back ten-fold, I promise! :)
