Digestibility refers to the extent to which an eaten nutrient is absorbed from the animal's digestive tract.  This is the amount of energy/nutrition the dog actually receives from the food he ingests.  Wellness formulations provide substantial digestibility results. This means that dogs are absorbing nutrients from the ingredients which provides usable energy!

Nutrient-rich fats must contribute to the optimal blend of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acid ratios so that fats can be converted and fully utilized by the animal's body. The percentage level of Omega's is not as important as their ratio to each other. 

We use the most nutrient dense sources of fatty acids like canola oil - the richest source of essential Omega 3 & 6's and flaxseed, the richest plant source. 

Dietary DHA is a natural Omega 3 fatty acid essential in the development of the brain, vision and nervous system of young mammals. AVMA research shows "that puppies nourished with enhanced (high) levels of dietary docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) were smarter, more trainable than typical-DHA (low-DHA) nourished puppies." 

The DHA in our Puppy Super5Mix comes from an expensive, high quality salmon meal made from salmon located in the cold waters of the northeast. We guarantee the inclusion levels in our Puppy Super5Mix at 0.13%. 

Wellness recipes include guaranteed levels of Taurine as a preventative step toward optimal heart health. Recent research shows that dogs, like cats, may benefit in additional supplementation to the Taurine already found in our fresh meat. 

Wellness is one of the only dog foods to include beneficial bacteria in all of our formulas. 
Beneficial bacteria (also known as cultures like Lactobacillus acidophilus or Bifidobacterium) naturally occur in the gut of your pet.  They are called beneficial bacteria because they aid in digestion and help to inhibit the growth and activity of disease-producing organisms.  The addition of these cultures to our formulas helps to keep an optimum balance and helps promote a healthy intestinal tract.

In addition to Garlic, Yucca Schidigera and Chicory Root we also include the valuable phyto-nutrients from Green Tea Extract, one of the most powerful antioxidants available.
